YOU'LL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT!

With my Dad's 50th birthday fast approaching, I found myself asking the question 'What do I get the guy who has everything!?'

The answer? A day of shooting... clay, nothing else!

So like proper country folk, we threw on our wellies and wax jackets and headed out into the country.

Welcomed by the fresh country air and the startling crack and bang of the shotguns in the distance we stood by and watched the professionals at work...

The guns were pretty too...

After listening to the ins and outs of stance, timing and technique, it was our turn and I have to be honest I started to feel a little nervous at the thought of having a fully loaded 7lb shotgun in my hands, and that all too familiar quote from my favourite childhood movie; 'You'll shoot your eye out' started to creep into mind!

Dad on the other hand was a natural... which is pretty scary!

And although I was useless I think its safe to say I had a blast!

The guys at Crynant Shooting Grounds were fantastically welcoming... and patient and I really cant wait to return!

I'd even go as far to say as I've found myself a new hobby!

Happy 50th Dad, you sharp shooter you!!

  1. Oh, no! Does this mean you're both about to apply for American (US of...) citizenship??? Really, though, skeet shooting looks like fun. Very creative gift.

  6. I just stumbled upon your blog and I like it. It's fun! Would love to see an about page though... maybe I missed it? Like why you're living overseas, what made you want to start the blog, etc.
That being said, it was still fun to peruse! I always get excited when I get a chance to dawn my wellies too. I have a pair of hunters and I love them. Skinny jeans, oversized sweater, and rainboots is my favorite rainy day outfit.

    Happy Blogging!

    1. Thank you! I know, I'm definitely working on an about page for you guys, I'm currently in the USA so should have that up and running when I return to home ground in the UK. Thank you so much for the feedback, it means a lot and I will definitely include those answers in the about page!

I love my Joules wellies and although it rains a lot in the UK I don't seem to get many chances to wear them, so it always feels special when I get out in the countryside and slosh around in the mud!

Thank you again for the lovely comments and feedback!
Keep checking by to see my recent posts on my trip to the US.
